Elaine creates her art in multiple mediums including oil, watercolor and fiber. She has always had a deep connection to the natural world and is inspired by landscapes from New Hampshire and beyond where shapes, textures and lighting always offer an endless source of subjects and challenges.
A national award-winning artist, she has earned numerous awards throughout the U.S. including Arts for the Parks-Top100 (2011). Elaine is represented in galleries and participates in juried art exhibits throughout the U.S. Her work can be found in private and corporate collections both in the U.S. and abroad.
She paints outdoors (en plein air) as often as possible and uses these quick sketches to develop larger paintings. She blends traditional realism with a contemporary impressionistic feeling, capturing the essence of her inspiration. While exploring this idea of simplifying the scene to reflect the bare essence of the theme, she holds the Hudson River Valley Artists in high regard for their valuable studies en plein air along with their classical academic approach to painting.
Other projects include illustrating and publishing a book titled “HARMONIOUS COLOR SCHEMES; a no-nonsense approach using the Color Wheel” and created and printed a series of adult coloring books and pages which are also licensed to an online app.
Elaine is a juried member of the New Hampshire Art Association and the prestigious League of NH Craftsmen with her Fiber Art. She maintains an Art Studio in Hudson, NH where she provides workshops by invitation and supports the arts volunteering in several communities.
