My art journey began as far back as I can remember. As a child I loved to
draw with pencils, colored pencils and even pastels. In high school I was
introduced to other mediums including watercolors, oils, charcoal drawing,
pen and ink, and even pottery. As a young adult, military service and later
family and career intervened to pull me away from creating. In retirement I
discovered that the creative flame had not been completely extinguished
and I began to paint again, first with watercolors and then with acrylics,
which became my preferred medium, and to a lesser extent, oils. Soon the
skills that had lain dormant for so long began to re-emerge. I am largely
self-taught, having taken full advantage of the resources available at our
fingertips in today’s information age. I mostly paint landscapes, seascapes
and birds. I’m especially fond of painting mountain landscapes, recapturing
memories of countless days spent hiking and backpacking in the White
Mountains and beyond. I am an active member of the Manchester Artists
Association, a former member of the Greater Salem Artists Association and
have participated in events with both organizations. My inspiration comes
from the natural world around us, the mountains, seascapes and the
wildlife that captures my imagination. As I continue to grow as an artist I
strive to capture and present the wonder of our natural world through the
eyes of a paintbrush.
